Larry and I decided to take our girls out to see the Chipmunk Movie on Saturday. It was playing at the Ann Arbor Mall and we thought the first show would be best since the snow was heading our way. After the move was over Larry took Cat over to the play area while Maria and I browsed a couple of stores. I wasn't much into shopping that day so it was very brief. We walked in and out of two stores. Not typical for Maria and I!
We headed back to the play area to tell Larry we were ready to go. But something stopped me before walking in. It was a weird feeling. I turned briefly to my left and looked toward Cinnabon. I noticed a security guard standing and probing someone. It was an elderly lady with her head cocked back, mouth open, and unresponsive. My first gut feeling was that she had passed away. I immediately grabbed Maria's hand and told her we needed to start praying.
By the time our eyes opened the little old lady was being put on the floor of the mall and cpr was being given to her. Fifteen minutes or more passed and she was still unresponsive. We kept praying for this lovely little lady who ventured out to pass time shopping instead of being home alone.
I went over to get Larry and Cat to leave and as we walked past her I noticed her stomach going up and down. She was breathing! Thank God!
You never know where you may be or when God wants you to reach out to someone. I thank Him that I was receptive to the Holy Spirit and I believe that God had me at the right place, at the right time. Did my prayer help this lady? Perhaps. I believe it did. It was God that touched her because I reached out in praying for her.
A great lesson for Maria. A lesson of loving your neighbor, a lesson of caring, a lesson of faith. I told her it doesn't matter where you are or what you are doing. If you see someone that is hurting, whether it be in a road side accident or like the lady in the mall, always say a prayer for that person. You never know how God will use that opportunity. We were able to share that with a young lady who stopped us to ask what had happened.
I hope the lady we prayed for is still here to feel the warmth of those who love her. If not, I hope she knew Jesus.
